An injury time goal settled this entertaining game with the visitors taking all 3 points . The early stages of the first  half were even with no clear cut chances. Dean Swords shot from outside the area on 29 mins was touched away for a corner by Billy McCarthy . 


On 42 mins the visitors took the lead when Jamie O'Sullivan shot across the area and Dean Swords redirected it neatly to the bottom left corner. The Dale's drew level on 65 mins when Dave O'Leary free wide on the right was met by Eoghan Lougheed coming in at the far post to head into the net.  


On 81 mins Avondale were reduced to 10 players when Richie Tobin was off after a second yellow and that swung the game On 84 mins  Avondales Matthew Mckevitt almost gave the home team the lead but his shot came back off the crossbar with Grimes beaten. 


Deep into injury time heartbreak for Avondale when a nice move was finished with a shot from the edge of the area to the bottom corner by Jamie Sullivan .. The Dale's  James Carson was excellent in central defence and Matthew and Frank Mckevitt both dangerous and the team played very well in general  but a late goal is hard to take.
