The Dale's advanced to round 3 in the Beamish Cup following a 3-1 win over Kinsale in extremely difficult conditions. Avondale dominated the early exchanges and it came as no surprise when Simon Falvey gave them the lead on 12 mins. Kinsale drew level on 35 mins through Donnacha O'Mahony. Ben McCarthy had a great chance to give Kinsale the lead on 37 mins but Callum Finnegan made a save. It was difficult for wide players with a very strong wind but the Dale's midfield of David Shovlin, RichieTobin and Andy Gannon put in a fine performances. It was 2-1 on 55 mins when Simon Falvey was upended inside the area and he dusted himself down to convert the spot kick. The tie was sealed on 84 mins when Falvey won the ball wide on the left he played it into David Hogan with his back to goal and closely marked by a defender Hogan showed lovely skill to turn the ball and defender before slotting the ball to the bottom corner past O'Callaghan to cap a fine game by him and send the Avondale into the next round .
