EGM Notice
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an Extraordinary General Meeting of Avondale United F.C. will be held at 7pm on Wednesday 10 April at Scala Retreat Centre, Castle Road, Blackrock. T12YV52.
The purpose of the EGM is to seek the approval of our members to formally engage estate agents to enter into a process to sell the lands at Avondale Park, Fernhill Road, Carrigaline.
Background
The land at Avondale Park is situated within an established residential location, in an area which is currently zoned ‘Existing Residential/Mixed Residential’ in the Cork County Development Plan 2022-2028. Professional advice sought has stated that the highest value use of this property is as a residential development site. The Club now wishes to realise the full development potential of the site in what is currently a buoyant housing market. The site is expected to attract strong interest and sale prices.
Avondale United has experienced significant membership growth over the last five years. Our facilities are no longer adequate to meet the needs of our members. The Club requires a greater number of playing pitches and a substantial investment in improved facilities. It has no additional capacity at its existing sites at Avondale Park and Beaumont Park. A sale of the land at Avondale Park is expected to yield significant sale proceeds which will allow the club to develop and invest in superior facilities.
Entitlements to Vote
The Club Constitution stipulates that a full member is a person over the age of 17 years. All full and honorary members of the club for the 2023/24 season are entitled to attend and vote at a meeting of the Club.
Full members who have not paid their annual membership fee are not entitled to vote. All registered club members are invited to vote.
